Originating in Northern Mexico, the chilli is a classic dish that has been embraced by lovers of spicy flavoursome food everywhere. Also called “Chilli Con Carne”, this spicy stew generally contains meat along with tomatoes and kidney beans. The first recorded mention of chilli as it is made today goes back to 1857. However, mentions of chilli pepper-seasoned stews being consumed in the Aztec capital (present-day Mexico city) go back to 1526 revealing the enduring allure of this dish!
